In 1875 John Fairfield Dryden, started Prudential as a way for the low-income class to obtain life insurance. In the beginning they sold Industrial Insurance, which provided funeral and burial expenses, with some weekly premiums as low as three cents. Four years later it grew into New Jersey, New York City, and Philadelphia, years later it was named Prudential Insurance company of America, and even later the adopted the name Prudential Financial.
Prudential insurance begin offering new products in 1940, and in 1980 they made headlines as it was the first major insurance company to market variable annuities. In addition to the level of service, is today recognized for the amount of products and services it provides.

I was hurt at work in Sept.08 2009; my employer is refusing me workers comp so I had to file for my short term disability. It took me almost 10 weeks before I got a check from Prudential and I had to call them Every day, I now must go on long term, they sent me only 1/3 of what I was supposed to have been paid for the month, now two weeks later no one can tell me what’s going on, when will I receive the rest of my check.
