In the early 1900s, Hanover began to offer automobile and marine insurance policies. The great 1929 stock market crash had little impact on Hanover’s success; in fact, they had a larger market share in 1935 than they did in 1930. Hanover continued to grow and succeed and became a well-trusted name in the Northeastern market. Today, The Hanover is the new name for the holding company for The Hanover Insurance Company, as well as The Citizens Insurance Company of America, and their affiliates.
